In memory of Miriam Gillis-Carlebach (1922-2020), the Joseph Carlebach Working Group-an association o researchers at the University of Hamburg and the Institute for the History of German Jews-has been awarding the Miriam Gillis-Carlebach Fellowship since 2023 to support innovative academic projects in Jewish studies.
Debates on Jewish Identity among German Jews during 1933-1938
This research revisits debates about Jewish identity and memory among German Jews during the early Nazi period (1933-1938), as reflected in the Jewish press, including the Judische Rundschau, CV-Zeitung, and Israelitisches Familienblatt.
Rachel Verliebter is a doctoral fellow at the Maayan Center for Ethics, Philosophy, and Sustainability at Bar-Ilan University, where she also serves as a research fellow at the Joseph Carlebach Institute in cooperation with the University of Hamburg.
