We are delighted to invite submissions for the third annual Philosophy in Progress (PIP) Postgraduate Conference, at the University of Nottingham, 8th & 9th January 2020.

Abstract deadline: 23rd September 2019

Keynotes: Prof. Richard Pettigrew (University of Bristol) & TBC

The central aim of PIP is to provide a forum for the next generation of philosophers to present and discuss the advances they are making in contemporary philosophy right now – that is, to show philosophy in progress. We welcome abstracts from current postgraduate students that make an original contribution to philosophical topics and debates broadly in the analytic tradition. Appropriate topics include, but are not limited to:

-      Metaphysics

-      Social & Political Philosophy

-      Epistemology

-      Philosophy of Mind

-      Philosophy of Language

-      Meta/Normative/Applied Ethics

-      Philosophy of Religion

-      Aesthetics

-      History of Philosophy

We invite abstracts from postgraduates, of no more than 500 words(excluding reference list), suitable for a 30 minute presentation, on a topic appropriate to a generalist philosophical audience. Papers will be selected by double-blind review. All sessions will include prepared comments from a philosopher at the University of Nottingham or the University of Birmingham. As such, accepted speakers will need to send a full version of their paper, of no more than 4000 words, by 1st December 2019, so that it can be passed on to a commentator.

We particularly welcome submissions from members of underrepresented groups in philosophy– feel free to indicate in your email if you are a member of such a group.. Information about travel and accessibility is available at pipconference.wordpress.com/contact. Feel free to get in touch with specific enquires regarding access.

Please submit titled abstracts, prepared for blind review and with the subject heading ‘PIP 2020 Abstract Submission’ to philosophyinprogressconference@gmail.com

In the accompanying email please list the title of the paper, name(s) of author(s), and author(s) affiliation(s).

The submission deadline is 23rd September 2019. We aim to give decisions by the 14th October. The deadline for full papers is 1st December 2019.
